Writing doesn't just involve the process of thinking. It ***is*** thinking.
Writing requires you to process and understand an idea. Often as you write, you gain additional insight in the underlying idea, its complexities, and its limits. You write to think through the idea. It forces your brain to make sense and connect the dots and to consider counter arguments. It’s formalized thinking.
The best way to learn about something is to write about it[^1].
