Thematic journaling involves writing about themes, as opposed to the things you did or saw.
For instance, for a Caribbean islands trip, you might choose to capture your thoughts and experiences around these themes:
- The resort and beach time
- Interacting with locals
- Conversations
- Food and drinks
- The snorkeling tour you took
- Wildlife sightings
- How your daily life might be different if you lived there
The goal here isn't to capture your thoughts in a chronological order like a blog, but around themes of the experiences you had. Depending on the trip, this [[§ Journaling MOC|journaling strategy]] may lead to better deeper [[§ 1.4 - Reflect|reflections]], as it forces you to deconstruct and recompile your experience, and may be aided by the [[Generation Effect]].
