There are a [number of things you can do](https://rscottjones.com/how-to-get-your-phone-ready-for-your-trip/) to make your phone more useful, but here are the four most important ones:
- Create a single home screen with the apps you'll need to access during the trip—while also moving distracting ones out of view.
- Turn off notifications for all but the most essential apps.
- Download whatever you'll need to access when you don't have cell coverage, including trip itineraries, reservation confirmations, maps, and any entertainment you want.
- Backup your data, and ensure you have enough space for capturing your memories.
- Bring a charger and/or battery pack with you, even on short daytrips.
