Malawi is one of the poorer African nations, and our visit spoke to that. We visited during our [[Nomad tour in Africa (Jo-burg to Zanzibar)]], and that seemed like the best way to get a sense of the country. The roads were terrible, our accommodations were rough, electricity was sporadic, wifi and cell coverage lacking, and for the life of us, we could not find ice—no matter how many stops we made.
