A travel disaster bag[^1] contains everything I'd need in case I had to deal with a major theft. Generally, these are the items that could ensure I could keep traveling without being stuck wherever the theft occurred.
- Backup credit card
- Some assorted US Dollars
- Flash drive with essential documents[^2]
- List of important phone numbers
- Physical photocopy of ID and passport
[^1]: I first heard of this term through Evan Rice's book, [The Wayfarer's Handbook](https://www.thewayfarershandbook.com/).
[^2]: Another option is to keep these files in the cloud somewhere, but only if you can login without requiring your phone, in case it's among what gets stolen.
