One of my own [[§ 1.5 - Remember|remembering practices]] centers around sending Happy Birthday messages. As part of my morning routine, I have a task to check the calendar for the birthdays of friends and family members (many people rely on Facebook for this instead). If I've traveled with that person, I'll include a photo from one of our trips together in my happy birthday message to them. Or, if I've been to a place I know they want to visit, I'll send them a photo of that place instead.[^1] Either way, it's a brief opportunity to be reminded of a previous trip, earning additional [[Memory dividends]]. This practice doesn't sound like much, but it nearly always generates a positive response—and sometimes, even a bit of [[Collective remembering]]. It also feels a bit more personal than simply adding a half-hearted "happy birthday" to the stream of repetitive comments on their feed. [^1]:If I haven't traveled with them, I simply reference some memory I have of them. After all, ROA is really just a subset of [[Return on Experience (ROE)]] anyway.
