Many travel journaling tutorials focus on the process of creating an elaborate keepsake[^1] of your trip: complete with sketchings, embedded souvenirs, flawless penmanship, and so forth, all perfectly arranged in a fancy, expensive blank notebook.
A piece of art, really.
That's cool, but I suggest a much simpler process. Don't spend your precious travel time making a fancy journal—[[§ 1.2 - Immerse|spend it adventuring]] instead. Your travel journal should just be a way to [[§ 1.3 - Capture|Capture]] important information, ideas, experiences, memories, and emotions that you had during your trip.
It \*will\* be messy, and for good reason—there's no need to arrange or make sense of it yet. It's simply a device for capturing the information so you don't forget about it.
[[Note the details]], but don't spend all your time wordsmithing this into perfect prose. These are notes just for your memories—the raw building blocks you can [[§ Journaling MOC|mold and shape]] into any number of creations in the future. This is just making sure that you bring those building blocks home with you and they don't get lost on the journey back to your daily life.
[^1]:A personally meaningful journal will still be [[Journal is the ultimate souvenir|the ultimate souvenir]], no matter whether it's fancy or not. And it will be more meaningful if you're spending your time [[§ 1.2 - Immerse|Immersed]] in the trip. Besides, there will always be time to [[Scrapbooking|scrapbook]] when you get home.
