Here are two competing filing systems you can use to keep your digital files and information organized. ## [PARA](https://fortelabs.co/blog/para/) This system does a great job of focusing on actionability. Items are stored in one of four folder: current projects, areas of ongoing responsibility, resources, or archives. I use a personalized version of this system for my notes and the My Documents folder on my computer. Where it falls down, at least for me, is around things like organizing photos, travel ideas/information, and some other "quick reference" items that my wife and I share. For those things, I use custom dashboards in Notion, or photo management apps. ## [Johnny.Decimal](https://johnnydecimal.com/): This system is focused on using a numbering system to function as a sort of personalized Dewey Decimal system. When I first encountered it, I tried to build a personal system using it, but I didn't like the rigid structure, which I couldn't quite nail down in a way that felt workable. I can absolutely see how this system could work really well for larger teams, though.
